Community Carer Role

Handle With Care (Portsmouth) Ltd has been caring for the people of Portsmouth since in May 1995. We are a family run agency providing care client's own home to elderly people, and for younger adults with physical, learning disabilities and mental health issues.

 

The management of this agency pride ourselves on offering a highly professional Domiciliary Care Service for the elderly, adults with a personal touch. We provide personal care to service users in their own homes who require such support in order to remain independent.

The aim of this agency is to sustain the quality of the services provided to designated service users, while meeting the challenge of the new regulatory requirements on the services provided.

We are looking to recruit caring, organized, compassionate people to join our team of community carers. The role is a very rewarding position and you will be working with a team of dedicated carers that have a strong management structure. The job role involves traveling from client to client as we are a domiciliary care agency.

​

Ideally, we would prefer you to have completed your care certificate and/or your NVQ2/3 or Diploma in Health and Social Care. If you do not have these qualifications, we will support you to obtain these qualifications while you are employed with us. If you have no qualification's applicable to the community carer role do not worry, we train all of our new staff in every aspect of the role before you start.

The Carer's role involves assisting clients in the community to remain as independent as possible within their own homes. It will involve you traveling from house to house. This may also involve aspects of personal care, shopping, sitting service, meal preparation, and general tasks around their home. We are looking for weekend and night carers predominantly at the present time. However, we do have flexible day shifts Mon-Fri if that is what you are looking for. We do ask that all staff have some sort of availability on a Saturday and/or a Sunday. Many staff opt to do 1 weekend on and 1 weekend off for a better work, life balance.

Due to COVID-19, our induction program is limited to how many applicants we can have attend each session. However, we understand you may be eager to start, so we will be organizing inductions as quickly as possible. Should you be successful, you will be given induction training prior to starting work, supervisions and shadowing to support you with your role and completion of the care certificate during your first 12 weeks employment with us.

To be considered for the role you will be expected to complete an application form in full, with full employment history, two references, and complete an Enhanced DBS check. We currently use an app that you will be required to download to your phone at no cost to yourself but you will require a Smart Phone to operate the app.
